Choosing the right player to score your marketing goals
Today Tuesday August 31st is transfer deadline day and some Premier League football clubs will be looking to push through some last minute deals. It is during the last few hours where so called “panic buys” can occur due to a poor start to the season or a realisation that their current squad just isn’t good or big enough to compete across the whole season.
However, other deals which seemed to be good business at the time can turn out poorly for both the club and the player involved. This can be seen with Willian leaving Arsenal after one year into his three year contract.
Willian arrived on a free transfer in August 2020 after leaving Chelsea, signing a three-year deal reportedly worth more than £200,000 a week. Unfortunately he was unable to make an impact and scored just one goal in 25 appearances last season.
Scouting the market
Now consider these two scenarios when looking for a marketing agency. It would be foolish to rush into a contract with an agency you found at the last minute because a deadline had to be met. Likewise, as in the Willian case, just because they are a well-known big name in the industry does not mean they will always be what you are looking for and deliver the success you want. Furthermore, the kind of fees that some agencies, particularly in London, feel that they can command does not necessarily relate to a higher standard of work being produced.
This is why making the right choice of marketing agency is so important. Knowing what services they offer, reading through their Google reviews and case studies and understanding the costs involved can help make an informed decision.
